Every student arrives at Heritage Academy with unique challenges, but also with immense potential waiting to be unlocked. For Andrea Bayos, Heritage Academy proved to be the place where she discovered her true capabilities, both as a student and as a person. As she puts it, the school “helped me to discover my potential.”
The Turning Point: Finding Focus and Family
Before Andrea entered Heritage Academy, she describes struggling academically—she “did not particularly stand out” and found it hard to focus in classes and study for tests. Furthermore, her social life was a challenge, as she had a hard time making friends and communicating with people.
All that changed upon arrival. Andrea recalls being immediately welcomed by the students and staff, which quickly established a feeling of a tightly-knit family. This nurturing community motivated her to attend school and actively engage with her studies and peers.
The ACE Advantage: Learning at Her Own Speed
The school’s academic structure was pivotal in her transformation. With the A.C.E. curriculum, Andrea was able to learn at her own speed and fully grasp the material given to her. This individualized approach helped her solidify her knowledge base and regain confidence. Remarkably, she was even able to take back the year of studies she lost when her family emigrated to Singapore, a true testament to the curriculum’s flexibility and effectiveness.
Spiritual Growth and Holistic Well-being
Andrea emphasizes that Heritage Academy not only focuses on academics but also the spiritual well-being of each student. As part of the program, a weekly chapel session is held where a spiritually-relevant topic is presented. Students are also encouraged to speak with their supervisor about any concerns, ensuring comprehensive support.
Through this supportive environment, Andrea was able to find her voice and her identity in Christ. She concludes, “I would not be the person I am today if the Lord had not placed me in Heritage Academy,” highlighting how we nurture the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
