A Classroom in the Lens of a Teacher- Ms Samantha
Being a teacher is never an easy job. It takes a lot of patience, understanding, courage, and a drive of passion to put one’s self as a big figure to the next generation. A figure to lead the youth into learning the needed knowledge to raise themselves in this modern-age society, and to also set an example on how to utilize said needed knowledge. But how is this established? In order to truly catch a glimpse of a teacher’s class life, let’s travel in it through the lens of none other than Ms. Sam Padre.
Bringing Life into the Class
Ms. Sam Padre is a __ year old supervisor in Heritage International Curriculum with that obvious and persevering passion for the younger generation. She conveys a message that sparking life into a classroom is not just having fun and being loud together, but really allowing the gears of their mind to move. As these students learn to own their own learning without heavily depending on external support, Ms. Sam shares, “I think this really brings out their ability to learn how to do their work better.” This sparks a growth and radical excitement in the classroom, which is something that has been lacking in this day and age. “I enjoy the fact that I get to hear what the students’ ideas and their own perspectives are.”

Raising Critical Thinkers in a Digital World
Ms. Sam reveals to us about a recently implemented subject called Global Perspectives, which challenges the students’ mind by pushing them to journey through different real-world issues. This allows them to formulate their own opinions based on what they read, research, and hear. In a generation that gives all the information we need at our very beck and call, Ms. Sam shares a way for these students to incorporate the knowledge and skills they have developed beyond the classroom is to connect them to things or experiences they are already familiar with. “To be able to really think for themselves. . . and how they can create their own opinion on it.”
The Joy of Seeing Hard-Earned Progress
As we continue to dive deeper into the lens of a teacher, it becomes a very clear fact that the progress of the youth is a blessing and ultimate joy to their mentors. “One thing that really struck me is. . . how much the children have developed from when I first started teaching them.” says Ms. Sam.
It is not one grand breakthrough she can point to, but something built quietly, lesson by lesson. In one of her recent classes, instead of walking her students back through everything she had already taught on research, she simply turned the question back to them— and watched, mind map in hand, as they recalled it themselves, almost effortlessly. It is proof, to her, that progress rarely announces itself. It only asks to be given patience, and the room to unfold in its own time.
Through the lens of Ms. Sam, we begin to see that teaching is rarely about grand gestures. It is in the quiet trust placed in a child to revise on their own, in the deliberate slowing down so a concept can truly take root, and in the small triumph of watching a student recall, unprompted, everything they have learned. At Heritage Academy, this is what shapes a truly self-directed and responsible generation— one patient lesson at a time.
