Looking back on my time at Heritage Academy, I realize that high school was not simply about completing my education. It was a time when I learned to become more independent, take on challenges, and discover things about myself that I had not always recognized.

One of the most meaningful parts of my experience was being part of the student council. I had opportunities to help organize school activities, communicate with different groups of students, and work alongside my classmates. These responsibilities were sometimes outside my comfort zone, especially when had to speak up, make decisions, or take the initiative. Being trusted with these responsibilities, and having teachers who encouraged me along the way, helped me become more comfortable with taking charge and working with others. What once made me nervous became something I could approach with more confidence.

I also learned to take ownership of my academic goals. During my final years of high school, I independently prepared for the SAT and challenged myself by taking AP exams in Calculus BC, Computer Science A, and Statistics. These were personal goals that required discipline and consistency, and working toward them taught me that I could pursue opportunities beyond what was required of me. While these were independent, my years at Heritage gave me the foundation and habits that I could build upon as I challenged myself academically.

Now, as I prepare for college, I find myself looking back not only at what I accomplished, but at how much I changed along the way. I am leaving Heritage with greater confidence in my ability to communicate, lead, learn independently, and take on challenges. More than anything, Heritage was a place where I learned to take that first step even when I was unsure of myself. The experiences, responsibilities, and relationships I had here have shaped the way I approach the future, and I am grateful to be carrying those lessons with me into the next chapter of my life.
