Eight Nationalities, One Heritage Family
At Heritage Academy, we believe that diversity enriches learning and helps students develop the understanding, respect, and global awareness needed to thrive in today’s interconnected world. International Friendship Day provided a meaningful opportunity for students to celebrate the many cultures represented within our school community while learning the importance of embracing different perspectives.
In July 2026, students, staff, and families came together to celebrate International Friendship Day, a vibrant event that highlighted the rich cultural diversity of Heritage Academy. With students from eight different nationalities, the celebration highlighted how our differences can become strengths as we learn, grow, and build friendships together.
More than just a cultural celebration, International Friendship Day encouraged students to connect in meaningful ways. Through learning about different traditions, languages, and customs, students developed a deeper appreciation for the people around them while reinforcing the values of kindness, respect, and inclusion that are central to the Heritage Academy community.
🎪 A Cultural Journey Around the World
One of the most exciting highlights of the day was the series of cultural booths set up by students, staff, and families. Each booth offered a unique glimpse into a different country, allowing students to embark on a journey around the world without leaving campus.
As they visited each station, students learned about the traditions, customs, languages, landmarks, and way of life of different nations represented within our Heritage family. The booths were thoughtfully designed to be interactive, encouraging students to ask questions, participate in activities, and engage in conversations with booth hosts.
The experience transformed learning into an exciting adventure. Students learnt gained knowledge, participated in games, and discovered fascinating cultural facts that helped broaden their understanding of the world. Through these hands-on interactions, they gained a deeper appreciation for the diverse backgrounds and experiences that make our school community so special.
🍜 Exploring Cultures Through Food and Activities
Most importantly, no cultural celebration would be complete without experiencing some of the traditions that bring people together. Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to sample traditional snacks and foods from different countries while participating in cultural games, crafts, and activities.
The food booths were particularly popular, with students excitedly trying flavours and treats they had never tasted before. Alongside the culinary experiences, students enjoyed learning traditional games, exploring cultural crafts, and participating in activities that reflected the heritage and customs of various nations.
These experiences helped students understand that culture is more than just facts in a textbook. It is expressed through food, traditions, celebrations, art, and shared experiences that connect families and communities across the world.
😄 Learning, Exploring, and Having Fun
One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was seeing the enthusiasm and excitement on our students’ faces as they explored the various cultural booths. Many eagerly travelled from station to station, collecting stamps, participating in activities, trying traditional snacks, and learning interesting facts about countries they had never encountered before.
Students particularly enjoyed discovering unique cultural traditions, games, and foods from around the world. For many, it was their first opportunity to experience elements of another culture in such a hands-on and interactive way. The event sparked curiosity and encouraged students to ask thoughtful questions while engaging with their peers and teachers.
Beyond the fun and excitement, International Friendship Day provided valuable opportunities for students to develop cultural awareness and empathy. Through their interactions, students learned to appreciate different perspectives, celebrate diversity, and understand the importance of building friendships across cultures. It was inspiring to see learning come alive as students explored the world through the experiences and stories of those around them.
